About me

Hello, I am Joanne, an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor working with individuals and couples in NW10 & NW6.

Are you experiencing anxiety/stress, low mood or relationship difficulties and feel you are at a point where some professional help is needed? Do you need a space to work through something that cannot easily be shared or resolved with partners/friends/family.?

How can I help you?
I offer you a safe, private and non-judgemental space for your concerns to be heard attentively and with empathy. My aim is to develop a trusting relationship so that you can feel comfortable opening up your thoughts and feelings with me. We can explore your thoughts and feelings, your situation, and think about how to find ways forward to help you to feel better. My role is to facilitate you towards feeling well and better.

Couples

I use Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFTC) as my approach.  I would see you as a couple for the first two 50mins sessions/weeks, then have individual 50mins sessions with each of you in the following two weeks before resuming working with you as a couple on a weekly basis with the possibly of more individual sessions if needed.

Where will the sessions take place?

I currently work in person from my NW10 address or from The Minster Centre NW6 or online via Zoom video. I only see couples in person at The Minster Centre but offer online sessions also.

What happens next?
An initial assessment/appointment allows me to see if I can help you and will give you the opportunity to see if you are comfortable with me.
You can either call or text me on 07902 922671 or click here to send me an email.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked with individual clients in private practice since 2015. The work has been a mixture of short and long term.

Many of the individual clients I work with have experienced disruption in their early/family life - parental divorce/separation or the loss of a parent. Early/family attachments/relationships will be at the forefront of my mind in our work together.

Qualifications

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (Externship Nov ‘23), Core Skills Part 1&2 (Feb ‘24)
  • MA Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling (2018)
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling
  • Foundation Certificate in Integrative Counselling

Except for the EFTC training, all the above qualifications have been obtained from the Minster Centre, NW6, which is a highly respected training organisation.

I regularly undertake CPD to enhance my knowledge and skills.

I have a long standing engagement with yoga and other movement practices so I am attentive to how everything is experienced in the body.

Other Qualifications

  • MA Art History
  • BA Humanities
  • 2yr BTEC National Diploma in the Practice and Teaching of Yoga (Morley College)
  • 2yr Meditation Teacher Training (Dru London)
  • Yoga Nidra Teacher Training (Satyananda, London)
  • Relax and Renew Restorative Yoga Teacher Training (Judith Lasater, London)

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
