About me
Counsellor, Supervisor, Coach.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m Jo, 36, and in my 9th year of private practice. I’m down to earth, bubbly, and passionate about helping you. I provide real therapy for real people who want to make a difference in their life.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I also offer therapeutic supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors.

Things are tough… the mental health service offered by the NHS is insufficient, and surely it’s easier to just get some tablets. Maybe, but some would say this is the equivalent of putting a plaster over your issues. In just a few sessions I’m confident I can help you to utilise the tools you already have within you, and get you on track to feeling better. Private therapy doesn’t have to be long term and it doesn’t have to cost the earth. The benefits for you could be priceless. I pledge to offer initial appointments for new clients within a week of enquiry. A half price trial session means you can come and give it a whirl and see how you feel. What have you got to lose?
So...Let’s talk about you!
I believe that everyone should have the ability to access therapeutic counselling in order to feel more content in their lives. Most people will struggle with one or more things at some point, and may feel 'stuck in a rut', lacking direction, or feeling out of control of their emotions.
With one in four adults experiencing some form of ill mental health at any point, this really has become the modern ‘normal’. Out of date sigmas about ‘reaching out’ still linger, but are fading. You do not have to go through this alone anymore.
My job is to offer a non judgemental, neutral, and supportive ear to you, allowing you that all important offloading space which so many of us lack; but benefit from enormously. With my support and guidance, we will:
- Collaboratively talk through what is affecting you
- Allow you space and time to process and understand it
- Identify how we can make realistic changes in your life to support your therapeutic journey
My qualification as an integrative counsellor means that I am trained in multiple modalities, and allows me to provide a totally individual and bespoke service for you, using the theory and techniques I believe are most appropriate and relevant to you. I am an individual member of the BACP, and am supported by their ethical framework, and work in the strictest confidence.
My service focuses on the idea that everyone has the right to feel OK, and sometimes low confidence and low self esteem can be a huge barrier to this, whether it is from an external force, or from within. Your change in feelings may have developed recently, or may have been building up for some time- this is the first step to committing to a new, happier, and more content you.
I am experienced working with children and young people in schools and am happy to take clients within this age range.
I offer a slightly different thread to my service in the form of solution focussed therapy. This is goal orientated, therapeutically working short term towards achieving something specific, or making that all important change in your life.
If you feel that i can help you, or have any questions, feel free to send me a text and I will call you back to discuss options at a convenient time.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
