Joanna Kalapus BA (Hons) Counselling & Psychotherapy MBACP
If there have been times in your life when you have reached an impasse, times when you have been unsure of which direction to take or cannot deal with difficult issues, emotions, feelings, therapy could provide a safe space for you to explore those difficulties, so that hopefully you can resolve or come to terms with them.
I am a compassionate and a fully qualified Person-Centred / Humanistic Counsellor & Psychotherapist, with a wide range of clinical and life experience.
As a Person-Centred Counsellor, I believe that my clients have the desire and the capacity to grow towards fulfilling their true potential, and that they are the experts on their own lives. I will work with you to help you to understand yourself more fully and to find your own inner resources. With greater self-awareness and trust in yourself, I hope that you will be able to make constructive changes, leading to a more satisfying and meaningful life.
My aim is to give you the time and space to explore your thoughts and feelings, without fear of criticism or judgement in a confidential, safe, supportive, empathic and caring environment.
My core philosophy is Person-Centred, but I can work using a range of relevant methods to support you in making a difference to your psychological well-being. I take my lead from you in terms of what you want to work on, explore in each session, and I will support your growth and development.
I have extensive experience of counselling people with a wide range of problems and issues in a private practice, in mental health and in voluntary organisations.
I have specialist training and I have a lot of experience supporting individuals with mental health issues such as; OCD, PTSD, DID, Personality Disorders, Eating Disorders and Anxiety Disorders and supporting people who are experiencing feelings of emotional distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.
