About me

Hi, I believe we all have the capacity to heal and grow if we are given the right environment.  Building a relationship with my clients where they feel accepted, understood and not judged is at the core of my practise.

Each of us has our own vivid and complex story, with a unique set of circumstances and experiences which have shaped who we are right now.   When faced with life's challenges we often adapt to situations, to fit in, to make the most of opportunities, or just to survive.  Over time maybe these adaptations are preventing you from being your genuine and authentic self.  I will create a safe and empathic space where you can explore how you feel, who you are and who you want to be.

Currently I am working at West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre, helping women, men and young people affected by the trauma of sexual assault, rape and relationship abuse.  I am humbled  when clients share their often difficult stories, and feel privileged to witness their growth and recovery through counselling.

I also work at Droitwich Wellbeing Hub where I support young people aged 11 to 18.   Navigating the world as a teenager in this new age of technology and social media can be difficult.  Building a trusting relationship with an adult who is not a figure of authority can help them to explore their choices and situations.  I don't judge those choices and I am not trying to change my clients, I help them to reflect on themselves and develop their autonomy and sense of self.

My private practise is called Sonder Counselling.  I work with clients face to face  at The Art of Wellbeing Centre in Pershore.  I also offer video and telephone sessions.  If you would like to meet me in person for an initial session I offer the first hour for £10.  Alternatively I offer an introductory call which you can book through Counselling Directory.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling for adults and children.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
