I have worked in mental health for over 20 years with groups and individuals. I have set up and co-facilitated groups working with depression, anxiety and bereavement. I completed my ongoing counselling training whilst working as a mental health nurse in G.P surgeries and more recently in a Mental Health Team.
I have had experience working with alcohol dependence, together with individuals who have been affected by someone elses drinking. My preference is working to the Alcoholics Anonymous Steps programme. I now work in private practice using my mental health experience to inform my practice.
For the last 15 years I have been involved in a counselling and co-management role in a voluntary counselling agency in Crawley, supporting clients from a range of agencies and difficulties, and supporting students in offering expience towards their degrees and furture career development.
I have worked with clients suffering from a variety of issues, including chid sexual abuse, alcohol, personality disorders, phobias and work related issues and breakdowns in physical health. My background in marital counselling informs my practice in working with relationship issues and marital breakdown. I have also worked with clients who have had the experience of miscarriage or stillbirth.
I find the counselling process enables a client to reflect on the choices and responses that have shaped their lives. It is an opportunity to learn new skills and look forward to positive changes in mood with new hope and purpose.
