Jo Langston - Life Editor & Psychotherapist. MSc. Reg.MBACP.
Hi and thank you for taking the time to view my profile.
About my practice:
"Change begins with self-awareness"
Is there something in your life that you are unhappy with but can’t seem to change it? Are you looking for a change in your life but not sure what it is, let alone how you’d achieve it? Do you find yourself succumbing to the same old habits or way of thinking that mean you never quite achieve your goals? Do you feel exhausted by the effort you’re investing in life but not feeling satisfied with the results? If so, you are by no means alone, but the solution is absolutely within your reach.
My approach to therapy is tailored to working with you to overcome your life challenges – exploring with you how you feel about your life now, identifying what you want your life to be like and overcoming the psychological barriers you may face in getting there. My approach is directive, compassion focused and educational but always led by your needs.
I use a blend of approaches to inform our work together. These include:
- Compassion focused therapy
- Schema therapy
- Attachment theory
- Cognitive behavioural therapy
- Behvioural insights theory
I started working in the field of psychological support 12 years ago, facilitating behavioral change programmes with domestic violence perpetrators. Since then I have worked with clients presenting a wide range of life challenges and my compassion informed, directive approach has proven effective across the board.
Aside from my practice I also work for the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy – where I manage their ethics service. Therefore you can be assured that our work together will be undertaken with the utmost regard for ethical practice. I believe it to be a privilege to work alongside my clients, creating a safe and trusting relationship in which to explore your needs and work towards your goals.
You've already taken the first step by looking for a therapist, why not take the next and drop me a message. I'm always happy to answer any questions you have about my practice to ensure I'm the right therapist for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
Master of Science Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
