Jo Brown Reg. MBACP
I am a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor with a diploma in humanistic therapeutic counselling and am a member of the professional register of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and an accredited member of the National Counselling Society abiding by their code of ethical conduct.
I work with those suffering anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse survivors, relationship difficulties, addictive behaviours, general unhappiness and those seeking self awareness. My approach is to help you identify and work with the root cause of suffering rather than papering over the cracks.
Counselling is not a question of me telling you what to do or how to be, you know yourself better than anyone else does, and your inner self knows what it needs to do to, even if you are not aware of that right now. I will accompany and support you using my skills and abilities to empower you to access your own source of inner strength and well being.
I provide a safe, confidential space where you will not be judged, where together we can get to the bottom of what's bothering you and help you move forward.
I have a background in bodywork, I was a Shiatsu practitioner(Japanese Acupressure) for many years, and practice mindfulness meditation. I integrate my experience of holistic body/mind awareness into my therapeutic work.
My fee for counselling is £45 per hour.
Therapeutic counselling works best when meetings are regular, usually weekly, and can be short term (6 - 10 weeks) or longer term depending on your needs. If you have a particular issue that you wish to work on in a focused way then short term counselling would be appropriate. For deep seated, or multiple issues or for developing self awareness, more time would be helpful.
- I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation giving you the opportunity to find out a little bit more about my practice and to to ask any questions you need, to help decide whether I am the right counsellor for you.
Contact by phone or email, I will always respond within 24 hours.
Weekday, weekend and evening appointments available in person or online video or phone counselling sessions.

Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience.
