Jo Brown Reg. MBACP
10 Vandyke Road
I am a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor with a diploma in humanistic therapeutic counselling and am a member of the professional register of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, abiding by their code of ethical conduct.
I specialise in working with people who have been lost for some time in an unhappy way of thinking or feeling, particularly depression, and have reached the point of wanting to commit to change.
Counselling is not a question of me telling you what to do or how to be, after all, you know yourself better than anyone else does.
I provide a safe, non-judgemental, confidential space where together we can get to the bottom of what's bothering you and help you move forward
I will accompany and support you using my skills and abilities to empower you to access your own source of inner strength and well being.
I come from a complementary health background (Shiatsu) which developed my awareness of mind/body energy and has resulted in an advanced empathic sensitivity which I bring to my counselling practice. This enables me to connect with felt experiences that you may not be able to express verbally and help you to access and work with these feelings in a meaningful way.
My fee for counselling is £30 per hour.
Therapeutic counselling works best when meetings are regular, usually weekly, and can be short term (6 - 10 weeks) or longer term depending on your needs. If you have a particular issue that you wish to work on in a focused way then short term counselling would be appropriate. For deep seated, or multiple issues or for developing self awareness, more time would be helpful.
- I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation giving you the opportunity to find out a little bit more about my practice and to to ask any questions you need, to help decide whether I am the right counsellor for you.
Contact by phone or email, I will always respond within 24 hours.
Weekday appointments available.
