8 Rutland Square
Experienced, BACP accredited, counsellor / psychotherapist (20 yrs+). Day/evening appts Mon and Tuesday in Central Edinburgh. Safe, confidential space to work through difficult times, confused feelings, long standing issues,…counselling & psychotherapy can help you find a way through; a new understanding, different perspectives; and open up possibilities.
People sometimes come to counselling to cope with a specific challenge, perhaps family or relationships issues or generalised anxiety; low confidence; being a parent; bereavement; problems at work; or perhaps feelings arising from childhood events or trauma …many different reasons. Very often people I work with just don’t know where to start, or can't explain, or understand why they feel as they do. Everyone is different.
I will offer you space to explore your feelings and thoughts, I'll be actively engaged with you, will listen well and won't judge you or the choices you have made in your life.
I work with people from all walks of life – those in senior roles, and those without paid work; local people and those who have moved to Scotland from across the world; people with varied culture, ethnicity and faith; young people and older people; LGBTQ community; people with mental health issues or chronic illness.
I have trained extensively in person-centred theory, also in a range of other models including psychodynamic and gestalt. I integrate all of my training into my work. I have worked for many years with creative tools such as art and imagery. Where this is helpful we can use this in our exploration.
In addition to my private practice, I have also provided counselling and counselling supervision in specialist agencies such rape crisis; LGBTQ services, substance misuse recovery and rehabilitation services; multi-cultural inner city GP surgeries and community centres.

I also offer coaching. This supports people to focus on the future – to achieve lifetime dreams; personal goals; or explore the sense that there is more to life. I support people who want to discover, find options, change unhelpful patterns, and create new approaches to life’s challenges.
I also provide executive coaching for organisational leaders and senior managers. This focuses on issues arising from the workplace: the complexities of leading in today’s world; cross-cultural issues in global companies; creating better relationships; maintaining integrity under pressure… a confidential place to explore options and strategies before taking action.
