Jill Ulman BSc (MBACP Accred)
Hello and welcome to my profile.
Sometimes people need a safe space in which they can "empty their head" and examine what's troubling them. Things may happen in life that leave you feeling uncomfortable, distressed or alone. I am a caring, experienced, professional therapist and supervisor who has worked in both short and long term contracts and I will work in a way that is compatible and beneficial to you. I do not believe in a "one size fits all" theory and I will tailor a number of different therapies to suit your needs. I provide a calm and confidential space for you to talk about and think through any troubling issues. I have a very down to earth attitude and many years experience of working successfully with a variety of different people.
My counselling beliefs are that the therapeutic relationship is essential in supporting and helping you to move forward and live a calmer and more fulfilled life. I strive to create a place in which you will feel supported to explore your thoughts and feelings and to offer comfort through challenging times. I feel passionately, that with the right support, people can address their issues and won’t feel so alone in times of upset and distress.
I am very experienced with working with students and can offer support to those who are on the learning journey. I have worked with a wide range of age groups and am able to offer a deep empathy and warmth to those who need a nurturing place.
I also work with couples when they are unhappy within their relationship and are stuck in unhelpful patterns of relating to one another. Having a comfortable space to help address difficulties can help to improve communication skills and look at issues from another perspective.
At our initial appointment, we will assess your situation to ensure we can work therapeutically together, it is important to me that you feel comfortable to proceed with the counselling. After that, we will meet regularly and review this together on a regular basis. I understand that some people have many demanding commitments, which is why I offer day, evening and weekend appointments. I will try and get you an appointment as soon as I can, believing that someone in distress needs to be heard as soon as possible.
