About me
Hi, I'm Jess. I'm a warm, down-to-earth therapist who helps people navigate psychological distress. Whether you’re swamped by a sense of hopelessness, exhausted from constant rumination, or struggling with low self-worth, I can help. Lots of people come and see me because they aren't the person they once were and are too overwhelmed to know where to start or how to fix it.
I practice at The Grove Therapy - Ilkley’s leading centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy - where we offer high-quality therapy in a welcoming, supportive environment. I see clients face-to-face on Thursdays and Fridays in our custom-built therapy rooms, located upstairs next to Bettys. These rooms are designed for comfort, featuring soft, velvet-like sofas, cushions, and beautiful artwork, with a discreet entrance at the back of the building.
How can I help?
Here’s how I can help:
We start with a relaxed, informal session where we have an in-depth conversation about what you’re experiencing. From there, you have the option of scheduling weekly follow-up sessions. Whether you’re feeling exhausted, on edge, or easily irritated, my aim is to help you feel less overwhelmed and regain clarity.
There’s no pressure to commit to a long-term plan or to “go on a journey.” These sessions provide a safe space where you can simply be yourself. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, so you can choose to attend as few as one or two sessions if that feels right.
My approach
My practice is shaped by my own lived experiences - my training in relational integrative psychotherapy, a deep interest in psychology, and overcoming personal challenges. I believe that what truly makes a difference in therapy is a warm, friendly, and human approach: one that actively listens and offers a neutral, sensitive, and insightful perspective.
My goal is to really understand what life is like for you. I may ask gentle questions or share tentative reflections to help you explore your experiences and gain deeper self-understanding. If it feels helpful, I might suggest new ideas or techniques for you to consider. Above all, I’m here to listen with kindness and care, accepting and welcoming every part of who you are.
Training, qualifications & experience
I work with a wide variety of clients and issues including loneliness, depression, stress, trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem or a feeling of being on the outside, looking in. No issue is too small. You can come and see me if you're simply looking for a calm and unhurried space just to think and explore.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Booking in and first session
The first step is to book a free 10-minute consultation via video call. To do this, please feel free to contact me in a way that's most comfortable for you, either by phone, text message, or email. You can expect to receive a warm and friendly response.
The consultation will give you the chance to work out whether I’m the right therapist for you, and for me to make sure I’m qualified to work with the issues you’re dealing with.
After this, if you’d like to go ahead, we can book your first session. There is no obligation to book a certain number of sessions and you can stop at any time. After booking, I’ll email you my contract (containing details such as confidentiality policy and how to pay) along with full details of how to find me. There are two flights of stairs that lead up to the counselling rooms.
Until the time your session starts, you can rest in the waiting area which has comfortable chairs, tea and coffee facilities and a toilet next door. When it’s time to start you can expect a warm and smiley hello from me. I will check with you for any sensory sensitivity needs (such as the level of lighting, heating and texture of the sofa and cushions), and I’ll be ensuring everything feels as soothing and as comfortable as possible before we settle down and begin.
