About me

I am an Integrative Counsellor and Counselling Supervisor offering one to one counselling to adults in a safe, non-judgemental space. I offer both short and long term counselling to individuals.

I have long believed in the power of therapy and that our past experiences play a role in shaping our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I offer an open and safe space where we can explore what is going on for you in your life.

Sometimes we reach a point in our lives when coping strategies that have served us well in the past, no longer help us through difficult times. This can lead to frustration, confusion, anger, anxiety, depression and a sense of unsettledness or stuckness. I believe that an exploration of the past is often useful, particularly to the degree that it continues to influence our lives.

By working from a place of compassion I aim to build a supportive and grounding relationship with you, hoping that you gain the support you can use to enable choice in your life.

I practice in accordance with the BACP ethical framework.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Counselling Supervision, and the Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling; I am a registered member of the NCS, I follow their guidelines and work to their ethical framework alongside that of the BACP. I have experience of teaching on counselling courses and have a supervisory practice working alongside other counsellors.

As a Counselling Supervisor I offer both clinical and non-clinical supervision. As within the counselling I offer, I work from a person-centred perspective and within supervision my approach is underpinned by Inskipp and Proctor’s Functional Model and Hawkins & Shohet’s Seven Eyed Model of Supervision. I work in a way that assists the supervisee to look at their possible blind spots and focus on different permutations of relationships; the client experience, the dynamics between the counsellor and client & the inter-relational experience between us as supervisor/supervisee, fantasy relationships as well as the wider context including social constructs, sense of culture, difference and diversity.

Supervision is available to qualified counsellors and counsellors-in-training (and on placement). I have supervised a diverse group of counsellors ranging from trainees to experienced practitioners. It's a pleasure to support the work of others and to observe and foster professional development.

I am also a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor with my core approach based in person-centred therapy. That is, I believe that your own experience of self is paramount and as such it is my commitment to respect that, and offer you insight and perspective.

Being an Integrative Counsellor means that while I work in a person-centred way, I also draw on other approaches to inform my work with you (for example Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic). I acknowledge that each individual is very different and therefore what works for one person will not work for all.

I am a Registered Member of the NCS.
