About me

I am an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist with accreditation from the BACP (our governing body). I have worked extensively for the NHS, in the charity sector and with private clients.

I work with individuals and with couples with the aim of helping you to make sense of your concerns and to feel better. The issues we can address together include - anxiety, depression and low mood, relationship and family issues, concerns with self-esteem, self-confidence and self-image, loss and grief, stress, abuse, eating disorders, and issues with identity, gender or sexuality.

I offer a safe, calm space where we can explore your concerns together. I use an integrative relational approach. This means I can blend different ways of working to suit your needs. I am interested in your current experiences, thoughts and feelings, along with possible influences from your past. We may find it helpful to look at patterns of behaviour and ways of relating that are not working well for you.

We will decide together how many sessions you may need. This is often open-ended, but we can agree a fixed timescale - usually between 6 and 12 sessions - if that would suit you better.

I am available for private sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at my home practice in KT2 5AN. There are excellent transport links nearby and on-street parking. I also work online with clients where that is more suitable.

Sessions are usually weekly (at the same time each week) and last for 50 minutes. If a set time is not possible, I do try to be flexible. 75 minute sessions are also an option.

Please contact me via phone or email. I should respond within 24 hours and we can arrange an initial brief chat on the phone. At our first session I will begin to gain an understanding of your situation and we can agree how to progress together.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

DBS check

Unfortunately there are a couple of steps to get into my house so my therapy room is not accessible to wheelchair users. I am happy to work online.
