About me

‘I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.’  Carl Jung

Hello, my name is Jess and I’m a qualified integrative counsellor. I work online, and also offer face-to-face and walk and talk counselling in Brighton and the surrounding areas.

I predominantly work with grief and loss. Grief can take many forms and encompasses a wide range of life experiences; death, relationships, identity, different life stages, career changes… the list goes on. These changes can bring about a host of challenging thoughts and emotions, including low mood, low self-esteem, and anxiety. I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgmental space to help process what is happening for you. Together we can explore and reflect on your issues, untangle the confusing emotions you might be experiencing, and find ways for you to move on and find peace.

You may feel that you are lost, or stuck in your current situation with no way out. By making the brave decision to seek counselling, you are giving yourself the gift of hope and allowing yourself to choose a new way forward.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and hold a CPCAB Diploma in Integrative Counselling.

I have worked for Headstrong, an online counselling organisation, Bower Tree, which offers low cost counselling to young people, and I currently volunteer as a bereavement counsellor at a local hospice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
