About me

My name is Jess Martin, and I am a registered Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.

I have extensive experience working with babies, children, young people and their parents and carers, within education, the local authority and the NHS. Before training as a Psychotherapist, I worked as a Nursery Nurse and then a Portage Home Visitor, supporting young children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their families.

Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy can be helpful for a broad range of mental health, emotional and relational difficulties and is tailored to the needs of the individual child or young person, providing opportunities to explore thoughts and feelings through playing, drawing, talking and thinking together.

I offer:

  • Bespoke assessments
  • Brief therapeutic interventions
  • Short-Term Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy for adolescent depression
  • Longer term Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy once weekly for at least 12 months

Training, qualifications & experience

  • MProf Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
  • Masters in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies
  • BA (Hons) Early Childhood and Education (Integrated Working with Families and Children)
