About me

We can all experience challenging times throughout our lives.  I believe that counselling can help by supporting you to reach a deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings and experiences.  It may feel daunting and lonely when things are not ok.  I aim to provide a space in which you feel safe and supported, to explore your whole self in confidence and without judgement.

It is my experience that feeling heard, understood and accepted can be empowering and life changing.  I am passionate about everyone experiencing their unique individual worth and it is my belief that everyone deserves the chance to live the life they want.

My experience has included working with adolescents/young adults and I feel passionately about the benefits to be gained from counselling during this time as there can be many changes and challenges to face.  There may be pressure to achieve or to be perfect, or there may be concerns about the future.  I have seen how talking through these concerns can help young people to have a deeper understanding of their own experience and to gain in confidence.

You may wish to work creatively during our sessions - such as using art or other mediums.  This can help to express emotions and bring insight into ourselves.

Areas I have worked with include, but are not limited to;

  • Anxiety
  • Low Mood
  • Anger
  • Loss
  • Change
  • Family Issues
  • Abuse
  • Relationship Issues
  • Self Esteem
  • Learning Difficulties
  • Health Issues
  • Bullying
  • Personal Development

I have a particular interest in working with Anxiety and have an understanding of the significant effect this can have on being able to live a fulfilling and happy life.

I trained via an integrative course combining different counselling theories.  I mainly practice from a Person Centred Approach, incorporating other theories such as CBT to support our work.  I believe that everyone is unique and we will develop our own way of working which best supports your needs.  It is important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor and our first session will give you the opportunity to decide whether you wish to work together.

I understand that you may want a specific number of sessions in which to focus on a particular issue that you have right now or that you may want to work in an open ended way, this can be discussed during our first meeting to decide which feels appropriate for you and this can always be reviewed throughout our work together.

I am qualified and registered under the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their Ethical Framework for good practice.  I am fully insured.

Please get in touch if you have any questions or wish to book an initial session.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
