About me

I work from a person centred orientation so building a relationship of trust and mutual respect is paramount to the effectiveness of the counselling support. I use CBT to help clients immediately pinpoint the core issues of their distress and further help to alleviate this with the use of CBT techniques taught in session and if the client chooses can be practised at home. I appreciate the financial commitment needed for private counselling and work with my clients ethically, effectively and as time efficient as possible dependent on the issues presented.

MBS Counselling stands for mind body and soul as all three play a part in our feeling of well being. I approach the counselling support I offer from an holistic perspective for those clients who may wish to try a natural approach to healing the mind.

As a Therapeutic Counsellor, I use a range of counselling techniques dependent on the needs of my clients, which includes techniques from CBT, Gestalt, Psychodynamic insight, Transactional Analysis, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Grief counselling, all from a Person Centred approach. I also offer sessions in stress management and relaxation techniques, which includes mindfulness, this can help with anger, anxiety, depression, fears or phobias, muscular tension, high blood pressure, headaches, sleeping difficulties, work related stress and chronic pain.

Often times my clients report positive feelings of well-being as soon as the end of their first session and more often than not feel extremely tired. The off loading or sharing of the issues you are going through may induce a good nights sleep!

With current advice around COVID-19 (Coronavirus), I am at present  still  providing the option of telephone or online Zoom (or other 'safe') video counselling support as well as face to face with safety measures in place.

ACC

Association for Christian Counsellors

The Association of Christian Counsellors is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK.

The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
