About me

Do you need a safe space in which to explore the challenges life has thrown at you?

Do you feel as if you can not move on with your life and feel blocked by the problems you face?

I offer counselling to adults and young people. I am a qualified psychotherapist and specialise in supporting adolescents through the stresses they are experiencing at this phase of their life.

I offer a safe, non-judgemental and therapeutic environment to support you and allow you to come to an understanding about the changes you need to address to reach fulfilment and a new way of life. I am here to provide a confidential and warm environment in which to begin to understand you in a non-judgemental way and ensuring confidentiality. I allow you time and space to explore the issues that have brought you to therapy by understanding who you are and by working together to discover new ways of thinking  to make changes that feel right for you.

I became a psychotherapist and counsellor through a personal experience of bereavement and therapy that set me on my current path. I offer an integrative way of working that includes a person-centred approach, which allows us to develop a relationship based on trust, and also can incorporate other approaches tailored to need.

The issues that I work with include; depression, anxiety, relationships, stress, bereavement, family conflict, trauma, anger, work and school related problems and attachment issues.

I am also able to support children with emotional and communication difficulties, using play therapy and other creative interventions, by utilising my knowledge of  Special Educational Needs within the education field.

My experience as a practitioner of mindfulness and hypnotherapy means I can support you to develop a range of techniques; these include relaxation and self-calming techniques, solution focused strategies and mindfulness based approaches to allow you to feel more in control of feelings of anxiety and stress.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully accredited member with BACP having been awarded an Advanced Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

My professional career was within the field of Special Educational Needs and I have extensive knowledge and experience of working with children with Communication Difficulties. I specialise in working with adolescents experiencing stress and anxiety related to school and family based issues, including self-harming behaviour.

I hold a Certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy and am an experienced Mindfulness practitioner.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
