Dr. Jenifer Elton-Wilson, Chartered Psychologist
ABOUT ME PERSONALLY:
Three years ago, I moved to Devon from the Bath area and have set up a practice in my new home, which is a secluded old cottage in a courtyard, in the Dartmoor town of Bovey Tracey. I work in a quiet room which is separate from the rest of the house. There is a bus stop outside our courtyard which connects us to Exeter in one direction and Newton Abbot in the other.
I have an extended family and am a grandmother now. I now rarely work in London or near Bath and focus upon my home practice in Bovey Tracey.
ABOUT MY PRACTICE:
I am an experienced senior practitioner, qualified as a counselling psychologist and as a psychotherapist. I offer all my clients an opportunity to explore their life, their problems and their options, with insight and compassion. I work within the time available with focus and commitment.
My hope is that my clients not only solve their immediate problems but move towards a more creative approach to their existence.
I offer weekly sessions either in a time-focused context or in an ongoing contract including regular reviews.
At present I am only able to guarantee service for new clients and for supervisees up to the end of 2019.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Chartered Psychologist, registered with the Health Professions Council and the British Psychological Society as a Counselling Psychologist. This branch of psychology specialises in psychological therapy with individuals and within organisations. I am also accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy as a Senior Practitioner, and as a Supervisor.

I have trained fully in a variety of approaches including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive therapy, gestalt therapy and transactional analysis.
I have trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is recommended where traumatic experience is concerned.

Supervision & training
I am accredited as a Supervisor by the British Psychological Society and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I supervise practitioners in training or qualified and experienced. My approach to supervision is integrative and I have trained in a variety of approaches to psychological therapy. I see all my supervisees as prospective colleagues. I have extensive experience of academia and have trained integrative practitioners of psychotherapy, counselling psychologists and doctoral candidates for many years. I aim to help my supervisees become proficient practitioners, using theory to support their practice. The welfare of the client is the only factor which takes precedence over the professional and personal development of the supervisee.
