About me

My name is Jemima Gee and I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and I work within their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.  My registration number is 373865. I also hold full indemnity insurance.

Choosing to have counselling can be a daunting step for some people to take and I fully understand that. As a person-centred counsellor I will work with you at your pace. I can provide you with a safe, confidential space to explore any worries, life changes, anxieties or issues that are causing you to feel uncomfortable, unhappy, alone, distressed, pained or confused. Feeling heard and supported is so important and I will listen to you and try to understand what life is like for you. Together we can explore your life, feelings and thoughts and look at resolving your difficulties.

I can offer both short term and long term counselling working with issues including, but not limited to:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Self Harm
  • Bereavement/Loss
  • Relationship Problems
  • Stress
  • Self Esteem
  • Pain

I have experience and a good understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD and have worked with clients who have these conditions.

I have supported a number of LGBTQIA+ individuals with processing feelings surrounding sexual and gender identity.

Building a good working therapeutic relationship is key to the counselling process and connecting with warmth is something I feel is a strength of mine. I will listen to you without judgement and respectfully explore what is troubling you. Reflecting on the things that you choose to share we may gain more awareness and insight in your difficulties. I'll be alongside you and support you on your personal journey. I always feel very privileged to be invited into another person's world and value each and every person I work with.

I firmly believe in this quote:

'People start to heal the moment they feel heard'

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
