About me

Hi Welcome to my profile. I know it takes a great deal of courage to look for a therapist. Having counselling or psychotherapy is a big step towards feeling better, and making sense of why things are the way they are. Whether you are suffering from generalized anxiety, depression, low self esteem or lack of confidence, or relational difficulties I can help. I am trained in psychotherapy and counselling and I am a registered member of BACP and work within their ethical framework, in a confidential manner. I have a level 7 Post Graduate level Diploma.

I work empathically and in a non judgemental way, giving a safe space for you and I to explore together how you are feeling and how it impacts you today. With all the disruption to normal life in the last year and a half many people find themselves struggling, whether it is from the direct result of Covid, facing illness or death of loved ones, the longer term effects of Covid oneself, or indirectly through social isolation and the anxiety the disease has provoked. Covid has increased stress for many.

I am trained in Transactional Analysis and Integrative Psychotherapy, the former looks at the ego states of different transactions and can be hugely helpful in navigating difficult or challenging relationships. Integrative psychotherapy goes a bit deeper looking at why we are the way we are, and why we suffer in the way we do. Making sense of things can really help us to move forward too. Building a sense of self and positive self esteem where that is lacking. Many people go through traumatic experiences growing up or in adult life and talking to someone about it can help to put it to rest. Perhaps the family you grew up in didn't talk about emotions and feelings and this can leave one unable to make sense of one's feelings, feeling emotionally numb or confused by turbulent feelings that seem out of control. Feelings need expression and understanding, and can be explored in a safe way through therapy.

My background is in General Nursing. I really enjoy helping people to have a greater sense of well being and quality of life, discovering who they are and what they want from life and how to cope with mental distress, which is sometimes derived from physical illness as well.

The first session will be an opportunity for us to meet one another and to think together about what you need from therapy, also for you to see if I am a good "fit" for you. Therapy can be shorter up to 12 sessions, or longer which would usually be open ended which would be reviewed 6 monthly. Sessions are for 50 minutes every week. If you would like to explore beginning your therapy journey give me a call or email and we can chat on the phone about it.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
