About me
Hello my name is Jeanette.
‘Sometimes we just need one person to listen and believe in us in order to find the courage to make the changes we want or need to make.’
Working as a person-centred counsellor I offer you a confidential space, safe from judgement where you can share your innermost thoughts and feelings. Working together we can explore the problems that you are facing, with a view to you making the decisions and finding the answers that are right for you, helping you to understand yourself better and make the changes you would like to make, or that you may feel are necessary to make.
With a background in Person Centred Experiential counselling and complementary therapies I see each client as a unique individual and consider that it is important to see the person as a whole, encouraging expression of thoughts, feelings and behaviour along with body sensations, how mental health is not separate from physical health but a finely tuned balance of all aspects of who we are as a person and how we relate to and experience the world as a whole entity. My role is to facilitate and support you, to help you to understand yourself better and feel understood by another, to be alongside you while you grow and change, with an honest, open heart, kindness and understanding.
I offer a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore your fears, questions, worries, and dilemmas. Through acceptance, trust and honesty, I hope to help you build confidence resilience, self-awareness and self-compassion in order to bring about change in the way and at the pace that suits you.
In the first session is important to assess if I am the right counsellor for you and to establish how we will work together. This can take place by telephone or online.
We will discuss what has brought you to therapy and look at what you are expecting to gain from it. We will agree on the limitations of the relationship such as confidentiality, the frequency, duration, location of sessions and cost and cancellation policy.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
