Jeanette Nissen, MA Systemic Family Psychotherapist, MSc Psych
Clients describe me as warm and empathic and able to create a safe environment where they can talk about very difficult areas of their lives. I am very solution and future-orientated and clients describe my methods as very ‘hands on’.
I am a qualified Systemic Family Psychotherapist and Danish Psychologist.
I have worked with children, young people and families for more than 30 years. I started out in nursing and became interested in psychology and counselling through my nursing work. Before joining CaMHS I was running parenting and childrens groups for an organisation in Oxford. The last 14 years I have worked within primary mental health and Child & Adolescent’s Mental Health Services (CaMHS) in both Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. The work has consisted of offering support, coaching and therapy to children and young people and their families.
I deliver supervision to other professionals working with children, young people and adults, i.e. I supervised the counsellor at Abingdon & Witney College for almost 3 years and I still run a reflective group for the staff at the Inpatient Unit (Swindon Specialist CAMHS) which I have done for more that 5 years.
I work closely with and as a consultant for MO Training and Consultancy (please visit trainwithmo.co.uk). We have developed and are delivering, a two day training course in Solution Focused Brief Interventions. We also offer training and consultation to staff working within schools, nurseries, health visiting, youth worker, drug misuse worker and staff from social services and CaMHS.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and offer evidence-based CBT for children and adults.
I offer a 6 session programme (individual or group) for young people who experience 'Stress & Anxiety' especially in relation to school and exams.
I offer support/therapy to family members during the CBT treatment of the child or young person.
I offer therapy and counselling to children, young people, couples, families and individuals, who have or are experiencing difficulties in areas of:
*Couple's issues - divorce
*Dealing with children's challenging behaviours
Dealing with illness and disorders such as:
*Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
*Autistic Spectrum Disorder
*Oppositional Defiant Disorder
*Bereavement, loss and grief
