About me

  • Are you, or is someone you love, finding life difficult?
  • Is anxiety, depression or other psychological, behavioural or relationship issues getting in the way of living life to the full?
  • Are you a parent looking for a qualified and experienced mental health professional to work help your teen?
  • I am widely experienced and trained to doctoral level in a variety of therapeutic models, so that we can work together to tailor therapy to suit you uniquely.

I offer you a safe and confidential environment, either face to face or online, in which to express concerning thoughts and feelings, gain deeper insight into difficulties and take positive steps forward.

I am an experienced Counsellor, Cognitive Behaviour and EMDR Therapist, Supervisor and Coaching Psychologist who is registered and accredited registered with BACP and BABCP and am a Graduate Member of BPsS. I offer single session, short or long-term work in central London or online. I have worked with young people and Adults in organisations such as MIND, Cruse Bereavement Care, Samaritans, Primary & Secondary Schools, GP surgeries and various local authority counselling agencies.

What to expect from a session:

Making the decision to attend a session is a positive step and can offer support beyond that available from family or friends. My aim is to help you find better ways to understand yourself, or to bring about changes to help you manage the way you think or behave, to improve your mental, emotional and behavioural well-being.

Listening carefully is the largest part of what all mental health professionals do. They make sure clients have clarified the problem areas in their own terms and help them decide what steps they want to take next, with the goal of always letting the work proceed at the client’s pace.

Sessions are between 50 minutes to one hour. In your first session, I will typically ask questions about you and your life. This information helps me make an initial assessment of your situation. Questions I might ask include why you sought therapy at this time, or whether there is a particular issue that may have led you to seek help. It may be however that you are unsure what the problem is, or feel a sense of 'stuckness' and therefore may be looking for a way to better achieve your goals or take positive steps forward in life. I may ask you a series of questions about your life. For example, because family situations play an important role in who you are, I may ask about your family history and your current family situation. Other than knowing the reason you sought therapy, I may ask questions to find out if you’re suffering from any other symptoms related or not to your problem.

It is completely normal to feel anxious at first, particularly if this is your first experience of working with a therapist/coach. It can take a while to get used to the situation but most people report feeling significantly more at ease as the session goes along. It can be quite a relief to talk about difficult issues with someone who is understanding, who clearly withholds judgement and with whom you do not have an emotional attachment.

What to do next:

If you would like to set up an initial appointment with me either online or face to face, or if you have any questions, please email me here or call 07976 528826., without any obligation for further commitment. If you leave a message asking for me to call you, please leave a number and day/time that you would be happy for me to call you back on.

I can also offer stress reduction sessions for children /young people preparing to take part in selection tests, GCSE's and A levels or pre-University.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
