About me

Whatever your circumstances, I appreciate making this first step can be a daunting experience for some, particularly those who may not have had counselling before. It can also be an exciting opportunity to create a fresh, bright and positive new journey into your future.

Adults

For those of you that feel like you have lost your way, I have a passion for helping people find their own identities and true voice, gaining confidence in their world. I offer an energetic, enthusiastic, honest and caring approach to my practice within a comfortable and friendly environment. I have vast experience working with clients in a solution focused approach. I work at a pace that suits you and your situation.

Although my training background is in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), I offer a flexible approach which may include some use of other therapies. I am committed to continued learning and development and keep updated with the latest knowledge to help clients to the best of my ability. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) abiding by their code of ethics including regular supervision.

Children and Young People

For parents with children interested in music under 10 years old, I offer a different style of counselling which involves guitar with stories and a wide selection of percussion instruments. Using pre-existing songs, lyrics are changed to your child's choice of words and we sing their new creation together whilst I play guitar and they play percussion instruments. This is a successful and therapeutic way of drawing out feelings and problems in a safe environment. It may also suit children with learning disabilities over 10 years old. I also work with younger children through a variety of art and play materials. I work with children over the age of 10 who have expressed a wish to engage in counselling. I hold a current DBS check.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
