Jayne Fowler BA (Hons) Registered Member BACP
Eccles On Sea
I offer counselling services to children, young people, adults and couples. I am a qualified, experienced and fully insured person centred counsellor, a creative therapy practitioner, a Clinical Supervisor and a registered member of BACP. I have a current DBS and NCC Safeguarding training. The places I work are:-
Great Yarmouth from Christchurch,
Broadland Youth and Community Centre , Hoveton,
Just Beauty, Church Street, Cromer
and from my home in Eccles on Sea where I have a private consulting room.
The Cobholm room at Christchurch, the community centre and my therapy room at home are all fully accessible.
On the first visit we will discuss what your hopes and expectations are of counselling and how I can meet your needs. Allow an hour and a half for this session. In your counselling sessions you will be offered the following opportunities; a safe space, to be listened to, a place where you can talk about whatever you want to, a non-judgmental space, respect, acceptance and confidentiality. It is my role to offer this safe space. Most of my working life has been in supporting roles therefore I have a great compassion for people and a wealth of life and personal experience to offer clients. I work in private practice with all ages in Great Yarmouth, Hoveton,Cromer and Eccles on Sea. I also work in schools with children and young people from the age of five years and I take referrals from local charities.
Sometimes life has a way of coming along with circumstances that can bring huge changes that are hard to cope with or, we are troubled by a way we behave with certain people, or in certain situations. Counselling offers the opportunity of exploring ourselves and our ways of being, in a safe environment. This enhances our ability to understand and accept ourselves and the situation we have found ourselves in, thus increasing our self worth and self awareness. I work with all ages and a broad spectrum of issues including:- children and young people, couples, relationship difficulties, attachment issues, sex addiction, bereavement, mental health issues, abuse, etc
Creative Therapies and Person Centred Counselling:
Creative Therapies gives us the opportunity to use a different part of the brain and work in a more intuitive way. It can be helpful to work with children and young people who find it difficult to talk about or express feelings. It can help us to understand ‘the message in the bottle’.
This includes sand tray and symbols, role play, storytelling, puppets and artwork. Sand tray can be used for a variety of issues which can be used for a variety of issues such as: - attachment, problem solving, understanding of the self, self regulation, increasing awareness of feelings and many more.
Person Centred counselling is about offering a safe space to, in this case, a child, which they can trust, enabling them to talk freely and feel valued.
‘Play becomes therapeutic when it takes place within a relationship that is characterised by a deep sense of safety, trust and consistency, where communication is based on the therapist’s empathic and accepting stance’
Therapy could be thought of as an opportunity to express and find oneself through being seen, understood and met, an experience that resembles early moments of feeling accepted and loved.’
(Calussi I. BACP Children and Young People. December 2016)
It is my job to offer a safe place for both to be heard and be listened to. It is important that differences need to be acknowledged as everyone comes with their own values and beliefs. Ways of being may be explored so that destructive patterns of relating can be recognised and addressed. Couple counselling can help with conflict and communication can be improved.
I offer the opportunity for supervisees to work through client issues or personal development issues in a person centred way.
