Jason Edwards MSc. Registered Member With BACP. Counselling Supervisor.
Hi, I'm Jason and I've worked as a counsellor for over 10 years. As well as being an adult counsellor, I'm also a children and young persons counsellor and am a qualified clinical supervisor. I offer person centred and cognitive behaviour approaches and am passionate about listening to people and supporting them.
I have my own private practice and as well as providing counselling and supervision support to individuals, I've worked with local schools and have provided support to national organisations offering welfare provision. I have extensive experience of working with emergency service personnel as well as providing counselling support to military personnel and veterans (concessions are available).
What to expect
I provide a safe and confidential environment where we can explore the challenges you are facing. I offer a warm, nurturing and non-judgmental service where you will be valued and listened to with empathy and acceptance. This setting will allow us the space and time to develop a professional counselling relationship that will help us work through the issues together. My approaches are Person-Centred, Humanistic and also Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and I am happy to discuss this with you.
I am qualified to work with children, young people and adults with a wide range of issues. I have extensive experience of working with people involved in providing emergency services such as police, fire and ambulance, as well as proving counselling support to military personnel and veterans.
Through our work I will be able to provide some help and support for you. Our sessions together will last for up to an hour and through these we will be able to discuss the issues that you are facing and over time we will be able to discover more about you, your skills and abilities and how you can use these to help you manage more effectively. After some reflection and with greater understanding, together, we will look to develop some new skills that may help you deal with any similar situations in the future.
I think my greatest qualification is my life experience but formal qualifications include being a fully qualified and registered member with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of their Children's Division. British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
