About me
My counselling approach is rooted in a trauma-informed perspective, where trust, compassion, kindness, and non-judgment are at the heart of the work we do together. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a key part of counselling, providing a safe and supportive foundation where you can explore your experiences and emotions at your own pace.
I work integratively, blending humanistic, psychodynamic, relational, and compassion-focused approaches to create a therapeutic approach that works best for you. This means our sessions are flexible and adaptable, designed to meet your specific needs and preferences, working with your individual pace and readiness.
My practice aims to be a welcoming space for individuals of all identities and backgrounds. My approach is LGBTQIA+ affirming and strives to be neurodivergent-accessible. If there are specific needs or accommodations that would make your experience feel more supportive, please reach out. Additionally, I offer a 20 minute free introductory session where we can get to know each other and I can answer any questions you may have.
I have worked in many different areas, including local organisations supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse, colleges and schools, and the NHS. I also work with The Flying Child, where I facilitate creative writing groups for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and provide trauma-awareness training in various professional settings. These experiences have deepened my understanding of how trauma can shape our lives—and how connection, creativity, and understanding can help to rebuild and reclaim a sense of safety and self.
I know that this process can feel daunting. Importantly, there is no “right” way to begin therapy, no “perfect” place to start, and no need to have everything figured out before you reach out. Each person’s journey is as unique as their story, and therapy is a space where we can gently explore your experiences together.
We will work collaboratively to understand how life events have influenced your emotions, thoughts, body, and actions. Together, we can uncover ways to reconnect with yourself, navigate challenges, and move toward healing. Through empathy, compassion, and a shared understanding, we can create a space where it feels safe to express what needs to be shared.
