About me

Consider the occasions throughout your life, when you have felt like you could value an impartial ear of someone to talk to, in challenging situations that life has a way of throwing at you. Or consider the times of anxiety and or despair, depression, relationship issues, and many more situations that can have an impact on your daily life, which at times could feel agonising. Does your situation fill you with anguish and torment, or a feeling of general malaise, whatever your concerns are, I can offer you a safe space, where you can ‘offload’ to me confidentially to share what is on your mind. I understand that it is not easy for some people to pick up the phone, or to make that first contact, there is the option of emailing me if that will be easier. Let us talk, together we can look at ways of making positive changes to helps your situation feel less ‘heavy’. When you are ready I am here to listen.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training, qualifications & experience:

I am trained in the Humanistic and Transactional Analysis model of counselling which encourages you to address those aspects of your life which can be causing a block, and hope to offer this in a non-judgemental, supportive and caring environment.

I currently work voluntarily for a charitable counselling organisation as a Counsellor, as well as at a community-based charity in a support role working with miscarriages and infant loss, and termination. I have also worked term time at a college as a counsellor, therefore offering a wide range of experience to work with difficult issues and concerns. In conjunction with this I am committed to running my private practice. Many of the people I work with present with depression, anxiety or relationship difficulties and low self-esteem.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
