A successful therapeutic relationship is established with skill and experience. Empathy, understanding and acceptance are the catalyst for change and personal growth
Time To Talk
Time To Heal
I am a fully qualified, highly skilled and experienced Senior Accredited Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Supervisor with over20-years experience of working with clients across a broad spectrum covering a wide range of issues such as, relationship problems, depression, stress (work related and personal) anxiety, bereavement, abuse, sexuality, identity, and many other personal matters.
Individuals know what is best or good for them; it is inherent in all of us. Sometimes, we lose sight of this and begin to think and feel in a negative or irrational way.
We lose our ability to resolve our own, personal issues and cease to live in a positive and productive way. We begin to make poor choices and decisions. We can feel depressed, anxious, trapped, confused, isolated, empty and lost.
I have extensive experience of working with many clients, I have gained over 15,000 contact hours experience.
People come to see me for a variety of reasons, I am here to help you work through your difficulties in a confidential and therapeutic space.
I also have over ten-years experience as a Counselling Supervisor (please see my supervision profile)
How I Can Help You
My role is to build a therapeutic relationship and to offer you a confidential, warm and safe environment where you are able to talk openly and freely.
My aim within the therapeutic relationship is to help you increase your potential, make better choices and find meaning and purpose within your life. You can learn how to manage negative and distressful thought patterns and behaviours.
I provide a professional, confidential service that fits your needs and enables you to be able to talk openly in a relaxed and confidential environment.
I provide a non-judgmental, pressure free space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings and begin to make sense of your world. You can develop a clearer understanding of who you are and find a resolve to your internal conflict and live a more resourceful life.
I'm here to help you explore, understand and manage your difficulties so that you can begin to feel a greater sense of well-being.
Each one of us has the resources within ourselves to cope and to bring about change.
I offer encouragement and support throughout this process. I will be working with you and helping you to identify with yourself once again.
If we stop and think about our own thoughts and feelings we can see that they are ever changing as we constantly change and grow.
I employ various counselling approaches that enables me to work eclectically with each person moment by moment.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

All testimonials are genuine;
I suffered the death of my Farther when I was 16yrs old, and up to the age of 28 I never spoke to anybody about it, how to deal with the grief, or told anybody how I felt inside. In not talking for 12yrs I seriously put myself under mental pressure that took to me to the edge and ate me away inside. Janet helped me see how to deal with and overcome the issues that I faced, and I can honestly say that before I went to see her I truly believed that I had reached the point where help was to late, but its never to late when somebody like this can guide you.
I now have a new outlook and can say that I am now happy with my life.
I can not recommend Janet enough, she has helped me a great deal, she is so easy to talk to and I always feel much better about myself when I have spoken to her!
I came to see Janet as I was finding it hard to cope when my daughter became ill. I found Janet extremely helpful, supportive and empathic. The counselling I received help me to cope and recognize the inner strength I didn't no I had. I'm so glad I went to see her. Thankfully my daughter made a full and complete recovery.
I cannot recommend Janet highly enough. She is very professional and put me at ease straight away. I was able to evaluate my life differently in way I have not been able to with others before. My life has now dramatically turned around as I have now been able to believe in myself and have more confidence. Thankyou J.G.
Miss H. Cheshire.
Working with Janet helped me to recognise the areas where I could improve my life. I felt more positive and began to feel a lot more confident about where I was going.
After a particularly traumatic and stressful relationship break up I was advised to attend counselling sessions with Janet. After a series of sessions Janet has helped me to see things more clearly and alleviate the stress I was experiencing. I am finding life so much easier now and am managing to put everything behind me and start a fresh. I would highly recommend.

I have recently had a series of counselling sessions with J.G. Counselling. I was experiencing a great deal of difficulty at work and it was causing a lot of anxiety and stress. It was beginning to dominate my personal life.

I am currently under Janet's supervision with counselling having gone through a major trauma in my life and turning into a very timid and emotional character and with support and understanding from Janet and how she talks me through the situation I am now getting back to my normal self and feeling so much better about myself and feeling so much more confident in all aspects of my life. Thanks so much to Janet and I would recommend her to anyone who needs a counsellor. She also approaches her sessions with a very warm and professional attitude and makes the time she spends with you very comfortable indeed.
My time spent with Janet, was a time of mixed emotions. It was good to be able to say whatever I wanted, without being judged. It was anonymous, but also you felt as if you were speaking to a friend.
Janet was there to listen..
I was able to speak and let go...
Although my issues can't be sorted overnight, I feel that I have been steered in the right direction....
I think everyone should have a Janet in their pocket.
I wouldn't hesitate to pick up the phone if needed.
Thank you Janet for being there.
