About me

I am a professionally qualified counsellor and a registered member of BACP. I am passionate about people and think it is a privilege to be in a position to help them.

I am able to work short term and just a few weeks work may be sufficient to resolve your difficulties, however I am also experienced in longer-term work with clients who have experienced trauma, sexual, physical and emotional abuse (either in childhood or as an adult) or who wish to work on issues such as depression, anxiety and low self-esteem and low self confidence.

I believe that our relationship is one of the most important factors within our work together.  I build a relationship of trust between us and  offer a safe, caring and non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable to explore your emotions. Within this you will feel secure enough to explore any problems or difficulties that you are experiencing. I  working mainly in a person-centred way which means that you direct the pace and the agenda that we work on in each session. I may, however, use insights from Psychodynamic theory to assist our work.  This means that we may look at what has happened within your life up until this point and how this is influencing your thoughts, feelings and current relationships. If you choose, these insights can then be used to assist you to make long term change. I may also integrate elements of Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness and CBT where this is appropriate.

I also work creatively using sandtray, dolls, stones etc..

I have experience of working with work related stress and have over 20 years experience of within the Emergency Services and therefore understand the pressure that this work and culture can bring. I have extensive experience of working with survivors of abuse and trauma and working within the Child Protection Arena.

I have experience of working with bereavement, physical illness, family issues, relationship issues and separation.

I have experience of working with people struggling with weight loss.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
