About me

My aim as a counsellor is to create a warm, empathic space within which issues and difficulties can be explored in confidence. I believe one of the key values of counselling lies in giving time and understanding to those aspects of our lives when we may feel pushed beyond our limits. Forming a relationship that reflects the individual nature of a client’s personality and allowing them to work at their own pace to help them find meaning, is the main priority in my work.

Although my training includes a range of psychodynamic and humanistic approaches, I work according to the needs, lifestyle and culture of the individual, rather than imposing a specific technique. What guides my work more than anything is my belief in the importance of the relationship between client and counsellor, which needs to be based on trust, mutual respect and the desire to work in partnership. I have experience of working with clients from a range of different cultures and welcome cultural difference.

My private practice is located in the centre of Epsom, where I work with adults and young people.  I also work with children and teenagers, offering counselling in primary schools and secondary higher education facilities. I also dedicate my time working for a large charitable counselling organisation in London.

People seek counselling for many different reasons. You may have experienced a traumatic event in your life, such as a bereavement that has left you feeling lonely and anxious. You may feel depressed and not know why, or maybe you are just having difficulty coping with a past event and you just need someone to talk to.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor and I also hold a BA Honours Degree in Integrative Counselling, incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centred, Humanistic and Psychodynamic counselling.

I run a private practice in Epsom where I work with adults, young adults, teenagers and children.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
