Qualified, integrative therapist in Hay on Wye. Experienced with supporting adults and children with anxiety and depression and with relationship difficulties.
If you are unhappy, unsure about your feelings or about life itself, then I can help you to make changes that are meaningful and find a way forward. I can give you individually focussed support, within a confidential, trusting counselling relationship.
I have a warm, comfortable room, which is private, to ensure confidentiality. I can also offer telephone and online counselling.
I am a compassionate person and take care to listen and understand my clients in order to achieve positive outcomes. I work from a person-centred approach, which I find, in combination with other approaches, makes the best fit for each individual client and their needs. Please ring or email me if you would like more information or to have a chat about what is worrying you.
If we feel anxious, depressed, sad or angry it is important to have support. Please get in touch because counselling can help. I work with all kinds of issues, I will never judge. Former clients say they have experienced real change and have been kind enough to send testimonials which you can see on my Facebook page. Sometimes we do not know what is wrong but feel isolated or unsettled. You may want to make lifestyle changes or plans for the future and want to talk things through or work on relaxation and mindfulness. I will be happy to help.
When you come for an initial appointment, it's free. We will talk about what is important to you. I will explain how the counselling works. I will be a supportive and reassuring. After this, you can decide whether you want to continue.
BACP member. I take regular supervision and professional development.

Training, qualifications & experience
My work with adults, families and children spans many years and various roles, all leading towards therapeutic work. I trained as a teacher (PGCE) after taking a degree in English. Later, after being moved by the numbers of children experiencing psychological problems, I became a family support advisor for a well known national children's charity, supporting families in crisis, and also an advocate for looked after children. All these experiences made me want to train as a counsellor, to work therapeutically with adults and young people.
I have a CPCAB level four diploma (BACP approved). I am an integrative therapist working primarily from a person-centred approach. I use a variety of methods depending on the client's needs. I find this works well in terms of identifying and addressing individual needs. I will always refer to another therapist, if I can not offer what you need.
As a therapist I have worked in health care, schools, local authority (disabled children and young people's service) and private practice. Working with people of all ages has enabled me to develop skill and sensitivity and given me great insight in to the many issues that affect and alter people's lives.

My fee is £50 a session. The sessions last 50 to 60 minutes.
I ask clients to come for an initial session (for £10). If you are happy, we will book a further group of sessions. I continuously review with clients. Usually three sessions is a good number to see if the counselling relationship is working and then we can arrange further sessions. There is no set limit. You can carry on as long as it is helping you or stop at any stage.
I can offer a reduction (£10) for under 18 years of age.
I can offer a reduction for those with financial difficulties (receiving benefits).
