About me

I am a qualified, integrative therapist in Hay on Wye, supporting adults and young people with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, bereavement and many other issues.

If you are unhappy, confused, lonely or unsure about things then I can help you untangle your feelings and begin to make changes that are meaningful and that lead to better mental health. I can give you individually focussed support and care, within a confidential, trusting counselling relationship.

I have a warm, comfortable room, which is private, to ensure confidentiality.

I always try to be compassionate and I take care to listen and understand my clients in order to achieve positive outcomes. I work from a person-centred approach, hand in hand with other approaches, that help to find the best fit for each individual client and their needs. Please ring or email me if you would like more information or to have a chat about what is worrying you.

When we feel anxious, depressed, sad or angry it is important to have support and not struggle on alone. Please get in touch because counselling can help. I work with all kinds of issues, I have a great deal of experience and will never judge.

Former clients say they have experienced real change and have been kind enough to send lovely testimonials -please see them below.

When you come for an initial appointment we will talk through what is important to you. I will explain how the counselling works. After this, you can decide whether you want to continue and book some sessions. You can stop at any time.

BACP registered. BACP Children, Young People & Families registered. Enhanced DBS clearance.  I take regular supervision and engage in ongoing professional development. I will be happy to show you my certification at any time.

Please ring me for a chat or to make an appointment.

Training, qualifications & experience

My work with adults, families and children spans many years. I trained as a teacher after university. Later, troubled by the numbers of children experiencing emotional difficulties, I became a family support advisor for a well known national charity.  These roles led in turn, to me qualifying as a counsellor, to work therapeutically with adults and young people.

I have a CPCAB level four diploma (BACP Approved). I am an integrative therapist working primarily from a person-centred approach. I use a variety of methods depending on the client's needs, including mindfulness, visualisation and CBT techniques. I find this works well in terms of identifying and addressing individual needs. I talk through with clients what the approach is and how I feel it will help. I will always refer to another therapist, if I can not offer what you need.

I have worked in health care, schools, local authority (disabled children and young people's service) and private practice. Working with people of all ages has enabled me to have greater insight and sensitivity in to issues that affect us and how they can alter our lives.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

TESTIMONIALS

“I have never received such unconditional support from someone. Going to see Jane has been a safe place where, for the first time, I have been able to talk about anything without fear that someone is going to make a judgement of me. It felt very liberating.” (2019)

I have been working with Jane for over 7 months now and have found her to be very sensitive, helpful, flexible and constructive in her therapeutic approach, as well as being a warm and friendly person. I have progressed a great deal with my own issues since our sessions started, and would not hesitate in recommending her. (2019)

'I have worked with Jane for over a year working on many issues such as anxiety, depression and drug abuse. She helped me work through my difficulties and provided me the help i needed to cope with my future'  (2018)

'I had just lost my Mum and was really not coping with the situation. I could not see a way forward. I really did not want to go to counselling, now I wish I had gone earlier. From my first visit to see Jane I felt the glimmer of hope. And that is all you need. Jane is very knowledgable and experienced, listens well and works with you to guide you through a really painful process. Highly recommended, please don.t keep putting it off.
Thank you so much Jane'  (2018)
