About me

I have worked as a Therapist in and around Gloucestershire since qualifying in 2009.

My background has been working in mental ill health both in Hospital and community settings. I have also experience of supporting adults back and into employment. This work took me into my training to work as a therapist.

I feel the role of a therapist is to explore what is going on in a persons life to cause them psychological distress. Therapists are trained to look beyond the presenting problems to explore possible underlining causes and to equip clients with the resources or "tools" so they can understand themselves to then improve their personal situation.

I work by drawing on a range of therapy interventions to suit individual client need after all we are all unique, individual with different values, beliefs and experiences.

Appointments can be offered at various times that include daytime, evenings and weekends. Sessions last for 50 mins and can be weekly or fortnightly to suit.

I am a member of the NCPS and work to their ethical framework. I have an enhanced CRB and professional liability insurance.

I also work with EAP provider as an affiliate counsellor (Employment Assisted Programme) for those struggling with mental ill health and wellbeing in the workplace. This work is to help support back into the work environment and retain their employment.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
