About me

You've decided to get help from a counsellor as you're grieving the loss of a loved one, close friend or family member, or your pet.

Maybe it's not actually a bereavement that you need help with-lots of things happen in your life that mean you're likely to grieve.

For example-

Grief isn't just about the death of a loved one.

Grief comes after your relationship, or friendship, falls apart.

Grief comes after you have lost a job.

Grief comes when you have lost your confidence following an illness, or a diagnosis.

Grief comes when someone you love has received a diagnosis.

You're likely to be feeling 'all over the place' with your thoughts.. and have loads of questions.. or none.

The trouble is, everything feels like too much effort right now.

You probably feel like nothing makes sense.

You probably think 'am I grieving properly?'

At this difficult time, there are no words that can make you feel better, as you've heard them all before.

I understand this.

That's why loss and grief counselling needs to be counselling that is only for you.

Because your grief is unique. Nobody will ever grieve the same way as you will.

Why Choose Me to Help You?

I have experienced grief myself, for many reasons and many losses.

Your grief matters, which is why looking after yourself and taking care of yourself matters.

Counselling can be the place where you can get the opportunity to think about what it is that you need to take care of yourself.

People that I have helped have told me that even from the very first session, they have begun to feel that they are not alone with their grieving.

People also tell me that they are now feeling more confident in making their own choices and decisions about things.

I would love to help you to feel that your life can make sense again.

Please get in touch with me by e-mail, or visit my website for more information and fill in the contact form.

I'll contact you to arrange a free, no obligation phone appointment.

Also:

I would love to help you if, as a Christian, you wanted to choose to share your story with a counsellor of the Christian faith, and would like prayerful support.

I love to help all kinds of people with a faith, or no faith, find their way through their problems and get the help they are looking for.

Training, qualifications & experience

I started my counselling career as a Volunteer Counsellor, where I stayed for six years.

During this time, I helped many people who came to me for counselling with issues such as bereavement, loss, relationship issues, financial issues, anxiety, stress, depression and abuse.

I have been working in my private practice, Caring Counselling, since 2021.

I work with children, young people and adults that are looking for support after a bereavement, or loss, of any kind.

I work as an Integrative Counsellor, which means that you will be given counselling that fits your unique needs and situation.

I am qualified to AQA Level 4 Diploma Standard.

I have an Advanced Practitioner Certificate in Counselling Children and Young People. (Level 5 Equivalent)

I also hold a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Social Care.

I regularly attend different training courses , so that I keep my learning and development as a counsellor fresh and up-to-date.

This means that you can be confident that you are working with a counsellor who wants to use their learning for your benefit, and works ethically and within their competences.

I am a registered member of the BACP-British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)

I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Accred.)

I am also a Registered Member of ACC-Association of Christian Counselling.

I am a member of ACTO-Association for Counselling and Therapy Online.

I have had ACTO recognised training to work online and on the telephone.

My private practice is insured and I have registered with the ICO-Information Commissioners' Office.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
