Hello I'm Jane, I would like to let you know a little about myself. I'm a qualified counsellor.
I am passionate in supporting you, by preparing you and 'Help you to Discover your way Forward', through my therapeutic counselling role.
I'm successfully working with clients having suicidal thoughts and tendencies, suffering from anxiousness and depression. I have helped them through counselling sessions become less anxious, becoming more resilient and confident, enabling them to find their way back into the social and working environments comfortably.
I'm successfully working in relationship counselling. Helping couples to develop a greater understanding of themselves and how they are experienced by their partner. Assisting them in becoming more aware and taking responsibility for their part in the relationship issues. This helps lead to more respect, more empathy and a greater sense of appreciation for each other. 'Helping you to Discover your way Forward'.
I have experienced a vast amount of loss and bereavement starting from a very early age enabling me to relate to how you may be feeling.
My main aim is to 'Help you to Discover your way Forward', through my therapeutic counselling role with you.
I understand how you may feel frightened, lost, empty, angry, confused, depressed, guilty, anxious, ashamed, generally unable to cope and broken inside. I want you to know you are safe and I’m here to support you every step of the way - Helping you to Discover your way Forward.
How it may feel when it is suggested that you attended for counselling sessions:
- 'Frightened of the unknown'
- 'Not knowing what to expect'
- Questions such as 'What will the counsellor think of me if I say'?...
- 'How can I say how I feel when I don’t even know myself'?
- 'How can talking about it help, it’s so painful'?
- 'I don’t want to cry, what if I can’t stop the tears'?
- 'I feel I am going mad'!
- 'I have so many issues I will never get healed'
Let me reassure that you are safe, you have taken the first step in getting the support you need. I know this may have been very difficult for you. Remember "Even the tiniest steps can overcome the highest mountain!". We will work together through any issues which may come to the surface during each therapy session, doing so at your own pace. "Even strong people need a little support at times" and this is okay. I’m here to support you, ‘Helping you to Discover your way Forward’.
You can be assured we will take things at your own pace sharing/disclosing what you want to, in your own time, when you feel ready. This will be achieved by working in a Person-Centred Therapeutic way with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) included when or if need arises, with your permission and Creative Counselling if this is preferred.
Having experienced bereavement and counselling myself encouraged me to become a Professional Counsellor. I specialise in various areas of grief/loss from the beginning of life during pregnancy and beyond. Grief/loss of an animal/s or ending of a special relationship such as friendship, loss of health, loss of employment through illness or redundancy. I also work with clients who have a Life-Limiting Illness such as Cancer that is no longer responding to treatment and other various Life-Limiting Illnesses, supporting you or/and your relatives.
I am passionate in supporting you by preparing you and ‘Helping you to Discover your way Forward,’ having a wealth of experience due to working in a well-known charity in this field for a number of years. If you are less-able this is not a problem and I am happy to work with you or sign-post you to someone else if I find I’m not able to give you the best support for your needs.

After a brief conversation where you can ask me any questions relating to this topic you may have ensuring we both feel comfortable, then we will arrange an appointment together to commence with our first counselling session.
What to expect in your first session
I am a friendly, approachable person, enabling you to experience a safe confidential environment. I will briefly explain how person-centred therapy works, discussing briefly the legal administrative details of counselling. This will include note taking and storing, confidentiality, boundaries within the contract. This is a legal requirement and will only take a few minutes.
You can take your own time to talk, be heard and understood in a non-judgemental way about what has led you to seek counselling support. We will explore this together when you are ready. If you find you do not want to talk or feel unable too, then I will sit quietly with you. By using my presence to help you feel safe, building on our working relationship, enabling you to share what you want to at your own pace.
Who I work with
I offer a Private Counselling Therapy Service in the North East area. Counselling the symptoms associated with Bereaved and people diagnosed with Life-Limiting Illnesses. My counselling also include the areas I have mentioned previously and within my profile under the heading 'Areas of counselling you deal with'. These include General Anxiety Disorder (GAD), depression, anxiety, symptoms associated with panic attacks etc. Feel free to have a look on my profile for further information regarding these. I work with people who are suffering losses including loss of limb, loss of friendship/relationship, loss of career due to illness/redundancy, loss of independence.
I work with students, couples, small family groups, adults, youth (over 16 years old).
Counselling sessions can be held via Skype, or at your home, via a mindfulness walk of a pre-planned route, or therapy room, where we both feel comfortable.
'Helping you to Discover your way Forward', This will be achieved by working in a creative way. By using Person-Centred and incorporating some CBT therapy tools and techniques, creative tools if/or when necessary with your consent. By using these tools to help break down problems, 'Helping you to Discover your way Forward', is my aim in my therapeutic counselling role with you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Higher Diploma in Psychology and Counselling. Being a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) I work within their ethical framework ensuring client and therapist safety. I have worked for a well known charity for a number of years gaining experience through working with the bereaved and people with life-limiting illnesses.
In my private practice I have been working with separation, infidelity and other relationship issues, generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), suicidal tendencies, grief, depression and other general mental health issues.
I work within hospitals and am very much a people person. I work with clients of mixed age, from various cultures, small family groups and clients whom maybe less-able, being very successful in 'Helping them to Discover their way Forward'.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
Due to training and working with clients with many different issues has ensured I have enough experience to work in other areas as well as grief, such as relationships, mental health and life-limiting illnesses, phobias, gender issues and HIV.
Clients who have been bereaved and people who are experiencing life-limiting illnesses has enabled me to work with people who have experienced all kinds of losses. These include miscarriage, loss/death of a pet, endings of long term relationships/friendships, people who experience unexpected redundancy or loss of job, loss of limbs, loss of independence to mention a few.
Working alongside a client/(s) having arrived struggling at the beginning, been supported by 'Helping them to Discover their way Forward', when finishing their journey, makes me feel very privileged to have been allowed to participate in that journey with them, thank you.

£40.00 - Mindfulness therapeutic Walk and Talk - Consisting of a pre-planned walk and talk therapy session taking in the beauty and healing powers of fresh air and nature as the session is held.
£40.00 - £70.00 - Home Visit - (Depending area). Consisting of visit to your space which needs to be free from interruptions for the full counselling session, and private for confidentiality reasons.

Hello Jane here, I am a qualified, experienced counsellor (Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Higher Diploma in Psychology and Counselling), and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), working within their Ethical Framework ensuring Confidentiality, Safety and Best Practice at the very least.
Counselling sessions usually last for 1 hour (60 minutes), unless the session comes to a natural ending before this time which we both agree.
Where? - You can attend a counselling therapy room or I can come to you at your home as long as you have a safe, quiet place where we will not be disturbed for the duration of the counselling session. We could go for a mindfulness walk on a pre-organised route if you think this would be helpful for you, being outside in the fresh air and with nature's healing powers.
