About me

Beginning your counselling journey can be a huge step and takes great courage. I do my very best to honour this, offering you respect and care working at the right pace and in the right way for you.

I use the best mix of therapeutic approaches to suit each individual client.  Clients come to me for help with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, and also to explore the bigger questions in life - who they are, what they believe, how they make meaning in this complicated world. Having been a meditation teacher I can support you in exploring or extending your mindfulness / awareness practice.

I am an IFS Therapist and love to work with this powerful (yet gentle) model. Internal Family Systems is a relatively new type of therapy in the UK but gaining respect rapidly. It is a way to understand your inner world and help it to transform and heal. "IFS is based on the principle that there is an undamaged, resourceful self at the core of every person and that accessing and working with that self is a safe, effective way to heal other, hurt parts of the mind." Please contact me for more information.

ASD / ASC / Aspergers: Over the years I have worked with many people of all ages with Aspergers and am currently a Specialist Mentor for students with ASD at the University of Bath. I have additional training in this area and enjoy working with ASD clients and their families.

I believe Nature is a powerful therapist and love to work with clients outside  - walking and talking suits some people better than sitting in a chair!

Please contact me if you have a specific issue I have not mentioned.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Life stage issues (mid life, transition from adolescence to adulthood, becoming an adult, end of life)

Questioning faith / identity / purpose.

Experience of working with Aspergers (children and adults).

I work in Yate, near Chipping Sodbury and have had clients from a wide radius around the south West, and, through Skype, across the globe.

My session cost is £45 per 55 min session, for all age groups, £55 for couples.

This applies to face-to-face and online counselling

However, I am happy to have an initial 15 minute phone  / Skype conversation free of charge so that you can ask me questions and hear more about me before deciding whether to go ahead with appointments.

I prefer to work mid to long term (months) but am willing to support you with a short run of sessions. There is never any obligation to continue if you feel the work is done!

At present (Oct 18) I have one low cost space available.

Further information

I work from a pleasant, quiet, discreet room in Yate which has plenty of offroad parking and easy access (one step).

Please do contact me for further information - a phone chat / email exchange / text conversation with no obligations.

There are dogs on the property and although you will never encounter them, please take this into account if you suffer extreme allergies or phobias.

It's not all about talking, it's about self awareness! I work creatively where necessary with art / music  / sandtray / modelling clay - however you feel comfortable expressing yourself.
