About me
Hello, I'm Jane, and a very warm welcome to you here at The Counselling Couch. If you're thinking about giving counselling a try, I want you to know you're not alone, and it really can make a difference. I offer counselling over either short, or long-term periods, to help you bring about effective change or enhance your wellbeing. My role is to support and enable you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours by talking openly and freely. I'm here to listen without judgement, without giving unsolicited advice, and without bringing in my own experiences. Our time is fully focused on YOU - your thoughts, feelings, and growth. Unlike a friend, I'm trained to gently explore the deeper layers of what you're going through, help you make sense of patterns, and support you in finding your own answers. It's a space that's completely yours - confidential, safe, and centred around your healing and self-discovery. Whether you're in a crisis, or simply curious about yourself, talking can be a meaningful step toward healing, growth, and clarity.
Counselling doesn't magically erase all your troubles, or "fix" everything overnight, but it can empower you by offering tools, clarity and a renewed sense of strength. It can enable you to feel lighter, more grounded and in tune with what you need. It can help you to re-connect with yourself, find strength in vulnerability and is a reminder that you are worthy of care too.
I know what it's like to feel lost, overwhelmed, or alone. I also know how powerful it is to feel truly seen and supported.
It would mean a lot to support you through whatever you're facing. I would feel privileged to walk alongside you as your counsellor.
What does being a member of the BACP mean?
I am a Registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) This means that I adhere to the highest professional standards in counselling and psychotherapy. The BACP is one of the leading organisations in the UK for therapists, and being a member shows that I am committed to continual professional development and ethical practice. You can feel confident that you are working with someone who is fully qualified, accountable and dedicated to helping you in the most effective, respectful way.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have qualifications in the following:
- Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling
- BSc Nursing (Adults)
- Transactional Analysis Course 101
- Counselling Children and Young People
- Certificate in Counselling
- Safeguarding Children and Adults
- Understanding Depression and Anxiety
- Counselling Grief, Bereavement and Loss
- Introduction to Working with Trauma
As well as being a Registered Counsellor, I am also a Registered Nurse. I have experience of working within the military, healthcare and corporate management, but I consider my personal life experience to be just as important as my professional qualifications. I have lived through a bit of everything - moments that broke me and others that built me, wins and wounds, and all have taught me something.
What is Integrative Counselling?
I am an Integrative Counsellor. Integrative counselling is all about finding the right approach that works for you. Instead of sticking to just one method, it combines different types of therapy, so I can use what works best for you and your unique situation. This approach is flexible as it tailors the therapy to you, to help you feel supported and heard. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, past trauma, or life's curveballs, integrative counselling offers a personal way to work through it. It's not about one-size-fits-all, it's about you and what feels right for you.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
The corporate world can be just as harsh as the streets, just in a quieter, more polished way - in a different language. Instead of physical threats, it's emotional wear-and-tear. Instead of survival on the outside, it's survival behind a smile, in endless meetings, under layers of expectations, swallowing emotions, and hiding stress.
I offer a space where you don't have to perform, compete, or explain yourself. It's a place where you can be human - not just a job title or a role. A space to breathe, reflect, and figure out what you actually need and who you are. You don't have to carry it all alone.
