Jane Mulholland- Accredited Therapist (COSRT)& BACP Registered Counsellor
I am a Registered Counsellor and Accredited Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist with 30 years of experience working with adults and couples in NHS mental health services,Relate,Higher Education and private practice.I also have considerable experience of working with Employee Assistance and Well Being Services to support staff in the NHS,the public sector and local businesses.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile-I hope it will be helpful for you in making a decision about the type of counsellor you might wish to see.
Please do feel free to phone for an informal chat which may help you be clearer about the type of therapy that best suits you and your particular situation.
Most of us,at some point in our lives, can experience some general anxiety, low mood or worry about work or home life. Our relationships too are a vital and important part of our lives whether they be with family members, friends or work colleagues.
So, when something happens or changes occur in those relationships that maybe outside of our control,it can cause us to feel a whole mixture of feelings-confused, worried and maybe unsure what to do for the best.
Most of the time we are all able to manage those thoughts and feelings and can see a way forward, however,it might just be the right time to seek some further help and support with a counsellor.
My practice is to offer an initial session to, explore the issues that have prompted you to seek help and to clarify how I may be of help to you as an individual or with your partner. It also gives you the opportunity to meet me in the privacy of my clinic and helps you decide on the next step. If,after that initial session, you wish to go ahead then further sessions are arranged.
Therapy is specifically tailored to your particular needs and can be offered on a short term(up to 6-8 sessions) or longer term basis which is more open-ended.
My clinic is located in Jesmond, its central location is two minutes walk from the Metro and easily accessible via public transport. There is ample, free, off street parking.
Sexual problems can be a source of great distress and embarrassment and so it is really important that you are made to feel at ease and comfortable talking about this sensitive and intimate part of your life.I have undertaken specialised training in this area and have a wealth of skills, experience and expertise to help you address your difficulties.
In therapy clients often find they gain further understanding about the causes of their sexual issues. They are offered a clear structure for therapy and practical guidance to enable them to re-build their intimate life into something more fulfilling and enjoyable.
I have been a clinical supervisor for 25 years working with counsellors, psychosexual therapists and sexual health advisors in both individual and group supervision.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists
COSRT is the UK’s leading membership organisation for therapists specialising in sexual and relationship issues.
All members must abide by their Code of Ethics and the performance of accredited members is regularly monitored.
