About me

Do you feel you need help, support, someone to listen? You do have a choice….

Now and again, we experience problems.  You may feel that no one understands what you are going through or no one is listening or has the time for you.  You may feel that there is no one there for you or that you do not wish to share these feelings and emotions with your friends or family. Sometimes we feel sad or angry but are not sure why, or feel our progress is hampered by something we cannot figure out. Confidential 1-1 counselling may be an option for you to choose.

My aim, as your counsellor, is to provide a supportive, non-judgemental, confidential and safe environment for you to share your story.   I believe that we all have the ability to change and that each person has the potential for growth within himself or herself.

I work as an integrative* counsellor; so whilst working together and with your choices always at the heart of the process, we may draw upon insights from a variety of counselling theories.  Together we may explore the past, the present or the future, at your pace and I will not judge you or influence your decisions.

One of the ways I work is to look at how past experiences may be carried across to the present and I am mindful of how this may impact on you and the counselling relationship.  The aim of the work undertaken is not just to relieve pressing issues of the moment, but also to create the hope of a more optimistic future.

Each person I meet is an individual, no single approach suits one issue or person. Together the counselling relationship will evolve to suit presenting needs. This may entail a more practical solution focused approach, perhaps looking at habitual behaviour.  Often to be able to talk in a non judgemental, safe environment helps in itself.

I work in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.  All within around a 12 mile radius of South Cerney, Stroud, Cheltenham, Swindon, and Cricklade

Please get in touch either by email or leave a message on my answerphone I will get back to you as soon as possible.  Thank you.

I also offer 1-1 or group mindfulness techniques; bearing in mind, we have 60,000 emotion evoking thoughts a day.  These may clutter our mind and create chaotic thinking, through self-reflection regarding these thoughts, feelings and sensations we may get a better understanding of ourselves.

*What is integrative counselling?

"Integrative therapy, or integrative counselling is a combined approach to psychotherapy that brings together different elements of specific therapies. Integrative therapists take the view that there is no single approach that can treat each client in all situations."

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
