About me
Hi, I'm Jane, a BACP registered person centred counsellor based in West Lancashire, currently working remotely with adults across the U.K.
Clients experience me as being an intuitive, genuine and kind therapist who strives to really understands them and cares for them in an empathetic and supportive way.
I help my clients to make changes in their lives, find alternative ways to look at situations and difficulties , strengthen their self worth and work through problems to instigate positive change.
My hope is that you will leave me with a stronger sense of what you want out of life, who you are and with the confidence to go and get it.
To feel like the life you're leading is the one you have chosen (rather than one that has happened to you or been chosen for you by others).
To see your own resilience, with the ability to ask for help and support when you need it.
The values that I live and work by are respect, trust, honesty, integrity, authenticity, care and commitment.
Training, qualifications & experience
I work daily with people facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, low self esteem, stress, trauma, family issues, work and relationship difficulties and navigating major life changes such as becoming a new parent, a carer or going through a separation, divorce or bereavement.
I have worked, for a number of years, with a diverse client base in various settings including charities and a local women’s centre.
I now work in private practice and also deliver a six month, twice weekly programme supporting parents to improve their mental health and build emotional resilience. I also have a wealth of personal and professional experience outside counselling, which I feel adds value to what I am able to bring to my practice.
My qualifications are listed below ;
- Level 3 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (ABC)
- Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (ABC)
- OU/BACP Certificate in Remote Counselling
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
