Jane Cox MBACP
Experienced BACP registered counsellor working in Chesham/Amersham with adults of all ages. Available for long or short-term work. By helping you to understand yourself better, counselling can help you discover new choices and pave the way towards a happier and more fulfilled life.
You may wonder whether 'just talking' can change anything. My experience is that it can. In the past, I've found this unique source of support can offer welcome relief during times of stress, as well as offering lasting benefits that go far beyond the actual length of the therapy itself.
Counselling offers you the opportunity get to know yourself better. It can help you make full use of your inner resources, enabling you to tackle situations or decisions which might otherwise seem too difficult or painful to cope with. Release from anxiety can free your mind and energy to explore options and consider choices you may not have realised were open to you.
My training and experience as a counsellor has been with Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) models. I have a post-graduate diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. My current practice draws on each of these models with 'the relationship' as the integrating factor.
I understand that choosing the therapist who best suits your individual needs can be confusing and difficult. For this reason I offer a low cost initial consultation so that we can discuss your concerns and answer any questions you have, before you make that decision. All enquiries are answered quickly, and treated with sensitivity and utmost confidentiality.
There are many issues that bring people to counselling. These can be difficulty in relationships or struggling to deal with the pressure and stress at work. As well as my private practice, I also work for a charity that supports women affected by domestic abuse. I am experienced in working with issues of substance misuse, self-harm and all forms of addiction.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), and work strictly within their clear ethical framework, requiring the highest standards of confidentiality and respect.
My practice is located in a quiet area of Amersham within easy access to the A41, M1, and M25 (Junction 18). We all lead busy lives, so sessions are available in the evening and at weekends
