About me

Hi, I am Jane, thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

Are you feeling lost, anxious or depressed?

Grieving after the death of a loved one, struggling with relationship issues or feeling overwhelmed with life.

We can all feel overwhelmed from time to time, I can help you to cope with the hurdles that life can unexpectedly throw at us.

I feel that the most important aspect of counselling is building a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel truly heard and understood. I am calm, authentic and patient, I will help you to settle, and ensure you feel safe and comfortable. You can work at your own pace and together we will find out what works best for you. I work in a client led manner, however, I will be there to gently challenge you when appropriate and help you to develop your self-awareness.

I work mostly using a Person-Centred approach; however, I can draw on aspects of other models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, depending on your needs.

I am genuinely caring and passionate about helping others. I will truly be with you, enabling you to feel safe, supported and able to share your raw emotions.

Some of the issues I have worked with include:

·        Decision making

·        Relationship difficulties

·        Anxiety

·        Bereavement

·        Low self-esteem

·        Family issues

I have benefited from counselling myself both during my training and beyond. This helped me to further develop my self-awareness and has supported me through many significant life events. I am also a parent, so I understand the trials of being a parent and the challenges of becoming a parent.

I can appreciate what it can feel like to be the client, how daunting it can be to begin counselling, especially during the first meeting, therefore I will do my best to help you feel comfortable.

If you have any questions please email, call or text me.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor, I am fully insured and a registered member of the BACP therefore, I abide by their Ethical Framework for Counsellors.

I have worked for Counselling for Carers. This enabled me to work with a variety of clients with a range of issues. Many of my clients had lost sight of themselves whilst caring for their loved ones. My work gave them the opportunity to focus on their needs and offer them a safe confidential space to share their emotions.

In addition to counselling, I have a wealth of life experience. I have worked in a variety of sectors from Financial and Insurance companies to the NHS, where I worked for the Ambulance Service for over 5 years in a variety of roles.

I have done a range of voluntary work including working for the Samaritans. I spoke with callers who were feeling very distressed and those who were having suicidal thoughts and feelings This work involved extensive training in active listening and self-determination. I spoke to callers across the country and listened without judgement.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

Testimonials from my clients

I would like to thank you for the support and wonderful counselling provided to me it helped me so much and I do feel much stronger and in a ‘better place’

I have had counselling sessions with Jane for the past two years. We have built a warm relationship where I felt I could share anything I needed without being judged. Jane listened attentively and gave me the space I needed to offload. At times she gently challenged me and helped me to extend my thinking and see situations from a different perspective. Jane gave me helpful strategies to manage my difficulties which I still regularly use months after finishing work with her. If I have need of counselling in the future I would not hesitate to contact Jane for further support.
