About me

Hi, I’m Jane and I’m a person centered counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. In our session together, we'll work at your pace and explore what brought you to therapy and then decide together, the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. We'll look at how your thoughts and reactions affect your emotions and experience. During therapy , I'll help you learn how to recognise and deal with those negative thoughts to change your feelings for the better.

Whatever the reason you are coming to therapy, it’s important to me. You may simply feel “stuck” with a life situation or perhaps you have been struggling with fear, doubt, anxiety, or low self image. I’ll aim to help you navigate a way through your thoughts and feelings and reactions to help you make sense of them. I am told often, that I am very warm and approachable. Together we will work out the issues and resolve in a way that is positive and helpful & healing for your wellbeing. We might even have some fun too! Let’s talk soon and get you back on track!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Bereavement Counselling
I am a volunteer counsellor for a hospice and I have experience and work with bereaved parents and families and also to those who have a life-limiting illness.

Christian Counselling.
As you will see from my qualifications, I am also an Ordained Minister of Religion. So I am happy to incorporate this into your therapy if you so wish, otherwise your sessions will have no religious or faith based content. It’s all down to personal preference.
