About me

Everyday life throws new challenges at each of us. You may be experiencing difficulties in a relationship or at work. You may be feeling depressed or isolated, anxious and lonely. Sometimes we are able to deal with these problems on our own, at other times it is good to talk to someone about it in a confidential, safe and calm environment. There is a solution to your problems and a qualified counsellor can help you to find it. My approach will aid you to reflect and find new strengths and resilience to go forward in your life.

Counselling enables you to look deeper into yourself and examine emotions, feelings and ways of thinking which may be the primary cause of your struggle, anxieties and fears.

In general, we each have a sense of what is beneficial for us. We are able to find our own answers but we need guidance and support to do this. Sometimes family and friends are helpful but many times we find ourselves being told who we should be or what we should do with our lives by those who mean well but they may not have the answers we are seeking. Talking to a counsellor can be the point where one starts the true exploration of the problem and begins to take positive steps to overcome it. I offer an environment of personal freedom and independence for you to explore your problems and together we will look into possible long-term solutions.

Another area which I am involved is men's mental wellbeing which I believe is neglected through societal expectations, norms and standards. I work extensively with men in the area of self-esteem, self-worth, anxiety and depression and men who have experienced abusive relationships.

If you feel that counselling can help you, please feel free to contact me by calling on 07908 573011 or sending me an email and we can arrange an introductory session.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • CPCAB level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People
  • Certificate in Clinical Supervision
  • Extended Certificate in Telephone and Online Supervision

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

My training and primary therapeutic orientation are Humanistic/Person-centred. In my therapeutic work, I acknowledge the need to work with clients by using elements from CBT, Existential, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Transactional and Transpersonal theories which in combination enhance the collaborative work with the client.

The number of sessions depends entirely on the client. Whether you feel the need to work on your concern or issues for a longer period of time or if a short intervention is sufficient, you decide what is best for you.

In addition to private practice I volunteer in IMHP services and The Sunlight Centre in the Medway Towns.

I am committed to continuous professional development through further learning and training.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
