Dip.Couns MBACP Counsellor for Adults 18 yrs +

About me

Welcome and "thank you" for taking the positive step into enquiring about personal counselling and how I may be able to support you on your unique journey.

I am a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  I abide by the organisations ethical framework, this ensures that you are always at the heart of our sessions together, listened to effectively in a non-judgemental way, with warmth and respect in a confidential and safe space.

Progressing at your own pace gives you important valuable time to explore and unravel your own emotions, thoughts and feelings in what could be a complicated, confusing and or difficult time in your life.

Therapeutic (Integrative) Counselling pulls together a variety of person centred  approaches and although you are the expert on your own difficulties, I will support you in exploring a better understanding of yourself and your thought processes.  Moving forward through self exploration and working together will also enhance the tools in your self-help toolbox.

As well as running a private practice I am a volunteer with the local Barnstaple Mental Health Charity Clarity, who supply face to face counselling sessions for a wide range of adults aged 18+.

My working background is within the NHS and I have held voluntary positions with two very rewarding local charities, Victim Support Devon who encourage victims of crime to talk about their lived experiences and Age Concern Devon be-friending older adults who are lonely and or housebound, supporting them to maintain positive wellbeing and quality of life.

I do hope this brief resume will go someway into introducing myself, and that it may make it easier for you to get in contact. I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
