About me
I specialise in working with couples experiencing relational issues, people who are experiencing insomnia and families in the adult population seeking therapy.
Insomnia
I provide assessment and intervention in the form of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for people living with insomnia and offer relationship support to their loved ones, for example their partners and/ or parents. CBTi is an evidence based intervention for insomnia across the life span and can have immediate positive results even for people suffering from sleep issues for many years.
Couples Therapy
I also work with couples experiencing a wide range of issues, who feel misunderstood and increasing distant from each other, who may be arguing more, losing trust and fearing loss of connection. I understand that this can often be a lonely and stressful day-to-day experience which seems predictable and exhausting, as well as bringing up issues from the past.
At such times, couples can often seek therapy to explore their unique situations and find new ways of relating to each other and thinking about their issues. Couples will often say that therapy has helped to improve their communication, grow intimacy between them and improve their own well-being and wider relationships.
Therapy together will focus, from the start, on the changes that you wish to make in your relationship and what's getting in the way. We will focus on how you have learned to adapt to times of stress and challenge, as well as building the skills and resources you may need to move forwards and feel more fulfilled as a couple.
I understand how challenging therapy can be, as well as it being an opportunity for growth and connection. To support you, I provide a confidential and safe space to explore your needs, feelings and desires in the relationship openly and honestly, so we can work together towards meaningful change: changing stuck patterns in the relationships, healing traumatic memories and building on existing relational skills.
Family therapy
Further to being a couples therapist, I have worked extensively with wider family systems, children and young people experiencing trauma and adversity and have supervised many practitioners in the systemic psychotherapy and family therapy field. I am currently accepting referrals for families in the adult population who may want to work on issues, such as estrangement, sibling disputes, life cycle transitions.
I also have considerable experience working with people with neurodevelopmental conditions, supporting men in intimate relationships, working with and conducting research on intercultural couples.
I closely adhere to approaches originating from Terry Real's school of couples therapy: RLT. Relational Life Therapy is an innovative form of therapeutic practice that seeks to change negative and stressful patterns in relationships by focussing on each member's individual needs and desires, and experiences in childhood and wider relationships to foster deep intimacy and build upon people's inherent relational skill-sets.
I have worked for over 10 years across the NHS, the Anna Freud Centre and local authority clinical settings. I have trained at the Institute of Family Therapy (UK) and Relational Life Institute (US).

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
