About me

Welcome and thank you for visiting my profile.

As a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist my aim is to support you to navigate your way through the many challenges presented in everyday life. My aim is to build an honest, open and trusting relationship where you feel comfortable and safe enough to explore your feelings.

I work with adults and young people, offering a range of sessions including early mornings, evenings and weekends. I appreciate how busy life gets and therefore feel it is important to adopt a flexible approach. I offer face-to-face, online, phone and ‘walk and talk' sessions.

The therapeutic relationship is a unique one, and finding the right therapist for you is key. Therefore, I offer a 15-minute online, introductory session, where we can both explore whether we are a good fit. Following that, sessions can be either short or long-term, whatever you feel you need. You can of course stop at any time.

I have professional experience as both a counsellor and social worker, supporting clients with a wide range of issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, loss, trauma, domestic and sexual abuse, mental health problems, addiction, neuro diversity, sexuality, gender, social isolation, loneliness and relationship difficulties.

I work with an integrative model which is informed by Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis (TA) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), allowing us to work in both your past and present. This enables me, with my knowledge and experience, to adapt my therapeutic model to suit your needs, enabling change in the most beneficial way possible. Through a collaborative and empathetic therapeutic relationship, I will help you uncover and understand patterns that may be contributing to personal challenges, supporting you to make meaningful and lasting changes.

Underpinning all my therapeutic work is the knowledge that it is ultimately the quality of the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist that heals. It is my belief that you are the expert on you, nobody else sees the world the way you do, I am simply here to help guide you to finding your own solutions.

I am a registered member of the BACP (MBACP) which means I am committed to working ethically with you and put your wellbeing at the centre of our work together.

All sessions are 50-minutes, unless otherwise agreed in advance. All our work is completely private and confidential, and how we decide to work together is always open to review - you are free to change your mind at any time.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have over 30 years experience of working with older people and carers. My work has included care home and community care management in the private sector. I previously worked for Buckinghamshire Council  for ten years in the Adult Social Care Team, more recently as a registered Social Worker.

I have experience of supporting individuals to navigate the complexities of grief and loss  associated with older age, acceptance of care and support needs and transitions into care home environments. In addition I have extensive experience of supporting individuals with initial diagnosis of age related cognitive impairment, dementia and other illnesses/ailments.

My professional experiences within the social care sector enable me to  support formal and informal carers with acceptance of their loved ones life stages and changes.
