About me
Hello and welcome!
Sometimes our lives come at us with such pace and pressure that there is nothing for it but to slow down, sit down and talk to someone we can trust. So, my work with a client firstly involves simply taking a little time out to pause and reflect, allowing the chance for a deeper and completely confidential conversation about whatever it is that is is troubling. I work with adult clients in a comfortable downstairs room in my home, where clients are free to talk in confidence.
I have worked with many people from many walks of life, with many different problems - coping with trauma, anxiety, illness, addiction, bereavement, work or family issues. People often struggle - at the beginning of counselling - to seek help, feeling uncomfortable about asking for help is often part of the problem that is holding us back. Counselling will help the person choose their own way forwards. You (the Counselling client) can can then get on with your life - in whatever way works best for you.
I take a ‘person-centred’ approach to my work – putting your needs and interests at the heart of our work together. I will offer ideas from other counselling approaches if it seems useful - in that way each client chooses and receives counselling from me that generates a 'made to measure' solution for them.
I am Registered with the Information Commissioner and hold Public Liability/Indemnity Insurance. I am a Registered Counsellor/Psychotherapist with BACP and UKCP. If you would like to know a little more, please call me or look at my webpage: Neil Maxwell Counselling. Thank you for your enquiry.
