James Cyril Cairns BSc(Hons) BACP (Reg),Dip. Couns.,Dip.Hyp.,NLP Practitioner
Most of us need help at some time in our lives. We can all experience times of crisis, when we feel lonely, vulnerable, anxious, distressed, isolated, traumatised, confused, depressed or generally overwhelmed and unable to cope. It may be difficult to know where to turn. I really believe that counselling/psychotherapy can help. I have witnessed, many times, positive and long-lasting results, in listening to and empowering people to feel better about themselves so that they can grow as individuals, change the things they want to, make their own decisions and live the lives they choose.
A little bit about my approach and what I offer -
I am a fully qualified and experienced Person Centred Counsellor and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Person Centred Counselling is a non-directive approach, which enables the counsellor to explore the client's issues with them, working through difficult feelings, in a safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment.
I adopt a warm, caring and sensitive approach to counselling, offering empathy, acceptance and unconditional positive regard for all of my clients, within a climate of trust, genuine honesty, openness and mutual respect.
I have also studied Neuro Linguistic Programming, Hypnotherapy, Psychodynamic Counselling and have had personal therapy utilising Transactional Analysis. Elements from these areas of study are used when appropriate in my approach with clients
I have high professional and ethical standards and regularly attend independent, professional clinical supervision, in line with BACP Ethical Guidelines and engage in a wide range of continued professional development training. I want my clients to feel valued and that the issues they bring are important.
