About me

I am a person-centred counsellor, the key principles of my practice are providing my clients with autonomy and a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space for you to off load, I am a guest in your experience, my aim is to help you unlock the tools you possess internally to make positive changes in your life. I have an understanding of how issues in day-to-day life can lead to a build-up of stress that can cause disorders such as anxiety and depression. My sessions will provide you with a space to explore the root of any issues you are having difficulty with; we will work together to establish the outcome you would like to achieve from having counselling and work towards reaching that goal.

I currently have a counselling room located in the grade 2 listed Houldsworth mill, just 4 miles from Manchester city centre and 2 miles from Stockport centre

I work with many different issues such as;

  • Abuse
  • Childhood trauma
  • Living with illness, diagnosis and disability
  • Work issues
  • Family problems
  • Loneliness
  • Relationships/friendships
  • Grief and loss
  • Self-esteem
  • Setting boundaries
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Racial identity/Racial trauma

I provide long term counselling and single session counselling but this isn’t always suitable for some as longer term support might be needed, I also work with clients who do require long term counselling for more deeper rooted issues. I have 15 years’ experience working with adults and children in supportive roles and I also have lived experience of how the impact of receiving counselling can be transformative. I have a trauma informed practice and I am very passionate about my work and always do my best to ensure that all individuals feel comfortable and heard. My aim is to help my clients work with past and present issues and to be able to gain clarity to help with moving forwards into a brighter future.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
